Today we’re excited to announce that, with the next update of our 3D CAD visualization solution, Canvas X³, we are delivering a performance improvement that sees customers able to open some of the largest 3D CAD models up to 13 times faster than with previous versions of the software.
This latest version, 20.4, which will be available on Tuesday October 13th, builds on our new partnership with Tech Soft 3D, improving the X³ 3D CAD file handling capabilities which, combined with the rich Canvas graphics toolset, make this a seriously powerful product for technical documentation and more.
Another legendary feature of Canvas GFX software, of course, is its ability to import a huge number of different file types, and allow users to manipulate and work with the data contained in those files.
Canvas X³ leads the way in this regard, with the ability to import over 100 different file formats. But we’re always looking to add to this list and, with this latest release, we bring the ability to open Autodesk’s 3DS and Design Web Format (DWF) files as well as support for the native file formats of Autodesk’s BIM solution Revit. Additional new supported file formats include GL Transmission, Industry Foundation Classes, PRC, U3D and VRML.
If you’re new to Canvas X³, we have some great examples of how customers use it over on our customer stories page. Aerospace manufacturers, 3D foot printing specialists and green tech recycling start-ups are all using its ability to import and work with 3D CAD models from all leading CAD packages to great effect.

Canvas X³ remains an extremely high value product, priced at the equivalent of less than $50/month per user on a three-year subscription.
If you haven’t yet had a look at it, why not check it out with our free, no-restrictions, 14-day trial. And, if you want to dig deeper into the product we recommend you set up a custom demo for you and your colleagues.
As always, we love to hear from our customers, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have comments or questions.
